jury: arch. Xander Vermeulen Windsant, arch. Renato Rizzi, arch. Andrei Serbescu, arch. Miha Desman, arch. Bruno Andresoiu

from arch. Xander Vermeulen Windsant, president of the jury: ”In the end we didn’t just decide on a project that does good, but which ads something extra to the equation, that ads an example for others to follow, which goes beyond the mere assignment… that doesn't serve the request of the client - well, that doesn’t respond to the city - well, but it goes a step further and, as such, is an example for the future, for other projects, not only in Romania but further on.”

from the jury: ”Every gesture in this project has distinctive architectural values and is part of an architectural thinking and acting which is based on more than design decisions. It is relevant to note the difficult process of bringing this project to life despite of socio-political and economic challenges and to recognise its sensible approach to the historical context as found. The jury considered it to be an example of how architecture can be in the middle of the battle.”
